Steering Committee Member of Multistakeholders Forum
He serviced with the Department of Fisheries (DoF), for 35 years and retired as the Head of the Research and Development (R&D) Division before retiring from DOF. Holds BSc, MSc and PhD in Zoology with specialized in studying fish (Ichthyology) from Yangon University and a member of “Myanmar Academy of Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Fisheries Science”.
While with the Department of Fisheries, served as the country hub manager for Network of Aquaculture Centres for Asia and the Pacific (NACA); Initiative to Support to Regional Aquatic Resources Management (STREAM), Project Manager for the (JICA) Small-scale Aquaculture Extension for Promotion of Livelihood for Rural Communities in Myanmar (SAEP), National Co-ordinator and Consultant to several FAO fisheries related projects in Myanmar, resources persons for ASEAN/SEAFDEC’s country initiative programs and regional activities, and Visiting Research Fellow (VRF) with International Development Economies (IDE- JITRO) in Japan . Written several fisheries and aquaculture development related reports and was a panellist for the inland fisheries development program in ASEAN Nations (Fish for People 2010-2020)
Now working with WorldFish Myanmar as National Program Advisor and providing strategic advices on fisheries R&D, local knowledge and information as well as important policy developments within the fisheries and other supportive sectors. Shan inherited, from Nyaung Shwe City (Inlay Lake Area) at Southern Shan State in Myanmar.
